Ingredients:

2 tsp cornstarch

tsp baking soda 籠

cup unsalted butter, softened 杻

cup white sugar

cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg 讀

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp vinegar

2 tsp red food coloring liquid or gel


Cream Cheese Frosting:

cup unsalted butter, softened 杻

2 tbsp vegetable shortening 便

3 oz cream cheese, softened 燎

1 – 2 cups powdered sugar

tsp salt 蓼

1 tbsp heavy cream if needed 拏

Instructions:

Red Velvet Cookies:

1 Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350F 175C.

2 Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.

3 Cream Butter and Sugars: In a separate bowl, beat together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

4 Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, vinegar, and red food coloring until well combined.

5 Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing about at a time until fully incorporated.

6 Form Cookies: Use a cookie scoop to form the dough into balls about 1 tablespoon in size. Place them 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or baking mats.
