Christmas Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies
Soft, buttery, and festive, these ooey-gooey butter cookies are a holiday favorite! With their melt-in-your-mouth texture and cheerful sprinkles, theyre perfect for sharing.
Ingredients:
1 box 15.25 oz yellow or vanilla cake mix
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling
1/4 cup festive sprinkles optional
Directions:
1 Preheat oven: Set to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2 Mix the dough: In a bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Add the cake mix gradually and mix until a soft dough forms. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
3 Roll the cookies: Scoop dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar, then gently press festive sprinkles into the tops.
4 Bake: Place dough balls 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set but centers are soft. Do not overbake!
5 Cool and enjoy: Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve and watch them disappear!
Holiday Tip: Add a few drops of food coloring to the dough for extra festive cheerred, green, or both!
