Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake
Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 box butter pecan cake mix
3 large eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
For the Filling:
1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup caramel sauce
For the Praline Topping:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
For the Whipped Topping:
1 container 8 oz whipped topping or 2 cups whipped cream
Optional: additional pecans or caramel drizzle for garnish
Directions
Prepare the Cake:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan. Prepare the butter pecan cake mix according to package instructions by mixing the eggs, water, and oil. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 2530 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for 1015 minutes.
Make the Poke Cake:
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the cake, ensuring they go nearly to the bottom. Mix the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce, then pour the mixture over the cake, letting it soak into the holes. Allow the cake to cool completely.
Prepare the Praline Topping:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Cook for 23 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract and pecans, and let cool for 5 minutes.
Assemble the Cake:
Spread the praline topping evenly over the cooled cake. Allow it to set for 1015 minutes.
Add Whipped Topping:
Spread the whipped topping or whipped cream over the praline layer. Garnish with additional pecans and a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired.
Chill and Serve:
Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
