Perfectly Seared Steak with Sautéed Mushrooms
Ingredients:
2 ribeye or sirloin steaks
2 cups mushrooms, sliced button or cremini
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 sprigs of fresh thyme
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Steak:
Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let them rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
2. Sear the Steak:
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, depending on your desired doneness. Add 1 tbsp butter and thyme sprigs to the skillet. Use a spoon to baste the steaks with the melted butter. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.
3. Sauté the Mushrooms:
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter. Sauté the minced garlic for 30 seconds, then add the mushrooms. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve:
Slice the rested steak and plate it alongside the sautéed mushrooms. Drizzle any pan juices over the top for extra flavor. Enjoy!
