Classic Marble Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt 蓼
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 杻
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs 讀
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk 拏
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup hot water
For the Frosting Optional:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened 杻
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup whole milk 拏
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
Make Chocolate Batter: In a small bowl, stir together the cocoa powder and hot water until smooth. Take about 1 cup of the cake batter and mix it with the cocoa mixture to create the chocolate batter.
Create Marble Effect: Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pans. Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together for a marbled effect.
Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare Frosting Optional: In a bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth. Add the milk and vanilla extract, then beat until light and fluffy. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake if desired.
