1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup milk

Directions:

Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add a bit more flour.

Let it Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shape the Donuts: Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters one large and one small to cut out donut shapes. Place them on a baking sheet and cover with a cloth. Allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
