Crispy Batter Dipped Fried Fish Recipe

Crispy Batter Dipped Fried Fish Recipe

Ingredients:

4-6 white fish fillets cod, haddock, or tilapia

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 egg

1 cup cold water or club soda for extra crunch

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Prep the Fish:

Pat the fish fillets dry using paper towels to remove moisture, ensuring the batter sticks well.

2. Make the Batter:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and stir it into the dry mix. Gradually add cold water or club soda for extra crispiness while whisking until the batter is smooth and resembles pancake batter.

3. Fry the Fish:

Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350F 175C.

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, making sure they are fully coated, and gently place them into the hot oil.

Fry 2-3 fillets at a time, cooking for 4-5 minutes per side, until the fish is golden brown and crispy.

Remove the fillets with a slotted spoon and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

4. Serve:

Serve immediately with tartar sauce or lemon wedges. For a traditional fish and chips vibe, pair with fries, coleslaw, or hush puppies.

Enjoy your perfectly crispy, golden fried fish!
