Classic Spaghetti with a Twist
Twirl your fork and savor the delightful flavors of this classic spaghetti dish with a vibrant twist! Perfect for any weeknight dinner or special gathering.
Ingredients:
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
– 1 tablespoon garlic, minced from the jar
– 454 grams rotini substitute with elbow or spaghetti if desired
– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
– Optional toppings: grated cheese or fresh herbs for added flavor
Instructions:
1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Once its boiling, add the rotini. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 810 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil and butter together in a large skillet over medium heat. Allow the butter to melt and infuse the oil for about 1 minute.
3. Add the minced garlic and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté these ingredients until the bell pepper becomes tender and slightly translucent, approximately 45 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently to avoid burning the garlic.
4. Once the pasta is cooked, reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the rest.
5. Add the drained rotini directly into the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Gently toss everything together to combine. If the mixture seems dry, gradually add some reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
6. Season your spaghetti with kosher salt, tasting as you go. Stir well to ensure all the flavors meld together.
7. Plate your spaghetti, and if desired, sprinkle top with grated cheese or herbs before serving. Enjoy the delicious twist on a classic dish!
