Savory Mini Bobotie Meat Pies with a Spiced Filling 不

Ingredients:
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 lb 450g ground beef or lamb
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon curry powder
– 1/4 cup raisins or sultanas
– 2 tablespoons chutney optional
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 large egg
– 1 package 14 oz/400g pre-made pie dough or shortcrust pastry
– 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
– 1 tablespoon tomato paste
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375F 190C.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
3. Add the ground beef or lamb to the skillet, cooking until it is well-browned.
4. Sprinkle in the curry powder, ground turmeric, and ground cinnamon. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the spices to toast and release their aroma.
5. Stir in the tomato paste, raisins, chopped almonds, and milk. Cook this mixture for another 2-3 minutes, allowing all the flavors to combine beautifully.
6. Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool slightly. Once cooled, beat the large egg and mix it into the filling along with chutney, if youre using it. Dont forget to season with salt and pepper to taste!
7. Roll out the pre-made pie dough on a floured surface. Use a round cutter to cut out small circles to fit your muffin tin or individual pie pans.
8. Line each pie shell with a circle of dough, generously filling each with the prepared meat filling. Top with another circle of dough and crimp the edges to secure the filling.
9. Brush the tops of the pies with the beaten egg wash to achieve a lovely golden finish in the oven.
10. Bake your mini bobotie pies for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
11. Allow them to cool slightly before serving, and enjoy the satisfying flavors!
