Baked Apple Roses
Ingredients:
2 large apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well
1 sheet puff pastry store-bought
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup raspberry or apricot jam for glaze
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
1 Preheat your oven to 375F 190C. Lightly grease a muffin tin.
2 Cut the apples in half, remove the core, and slice thinly about 1/8-inch thick. Place the slices in a microwave-safe bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice. Microwave for 1-2 minutes to soften them.
3 Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut it into strips about 1 inch wide.
4 Spread the jam evenly across the pastry strips and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
5 Arrange the apple slices along one edge of the pastry strip, overlapping them slightly to form a “”rose”” shape.
6 Carefully roll up the pastry with the apple slices in it, creating a rose shape. Place each rose in a muffin tin slot.
7 Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
8 After cooling, dust with powdered sugar for a delicate finish.
