Easy Apple Strudel
Ingredients:
4 large apples Granny Smith or Gala
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup raisins optional
1 package phyllo dough about 14 sheets
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions:
1 Preheat your oven to 375F 190C.
2 Peel and thinly slice the apples, then toss them in a bowl with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and raisins if using. Set aside.
3 Melt the butter and brush a baking sheet with a small amount. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on the sheet and lightly brush with butter. Place another sheet on top and repeat until you have about 6-7 layers.
4 Sprinkle the center of the phyllo dough with breadcrumbs, then spoon the apple mixture evenly along the length of the dough.
5 Carefully roll the dough up over the apples to form a log or strudel shape, tucking in the ends as you go. Brush the top of the strudel with melted butter.
6 Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
7 After cooling slightly, dust with powdered sugar and slice.
