Pizza Pasta Bake with Sausage

Ingredients:

12 oz penne or rotini pasta, cooked al dente

1 lb Italian sausage, removed from casing

1 15 oz jar pizza sauce

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/2 cup pepperoni slices

1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced

1/4 cup red onion, diced

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp dried basil

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional


2 tbsp olive oil

Fresh basil, chopped optional for garnish

Instructions:

1 Preheat the oven to 375F 190C and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2 In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage, cooking until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat.

3 Stir in pizza sauce, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.

4 Combine the cooked pasta with the sausage sauce mixture, then stir in the pepperoni, bell pepper, and onion.

5 Transfer everything into the prepared baking dish, topping with shredded mozzarella.

6 Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7 Garnish with fresh basil before serving. Enjoy!
