Camp David Spaghetti with Italian Sausage

Ingredients:

1 lb spaghetti, cooked and drained

1 lb Italian sausage mild or hot, sliced or crumbled

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

24 oz marinara sauce

1/2 cup red wine optional, can substitute with broth

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional


Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions:

1 Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the Italian sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.

2 In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.

3 Add the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, red wine if using, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and let simmer for 10 minutes.

4 Return the sausage to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes to combine flavors.

5 Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce, ensuring the pasta is fully coated.

6 Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and grated Parmesan. Enjoy!
