Sausage Breakfast Casserole
Ingredients:
1 lb pork sausage
6 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
6 slices of bread, cubed
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper optional
1/2 cup diced onion optional
Instructions:
1 Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2 Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease.
3 In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
4 Layer the cubed bread at the bottom of the greased baking dish. Top with cooked sausage, optional veggies, and shredded cheese.
5 Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers in the dish.
6 Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
7 Bake, uncovered, for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden. Let cool slightly before serving.
